ASHTANGA YOGA
Ashtanga Yoga was the System and Method taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, known as Guruji (d.2009). Presently his teachings are being carried forth by his grandson R.Sharath Jois, his daughter, Saraswathi Rangaswamy (both in Mysore), his son Manju Jois (California) as well as devoted students like Jörgen.

In a “Mysore Style" class, students practice in a group class setting but are instructed on an individual basis. This traditional method allows each student to learn at their own pace, memorizing the breath and sequence allowing each student to be challenged according to his/her ability. Students are given more postures as they advance and progress gradually. It is a non-competitive where absolute beginners and advanced students can practice and develop together in the same room.
Students new to "Mysore Style" practice, are required to commit to a month of regular classes in order to learn the Method correctly and in the traditional way. (No prior experience is required.)
In the “guided class” (known as Led Classes) all students are welcome to attend without commitment, so long as they have basic knowledge of Yoga (e.g. Led Full Primary, Led Half Primary or Led Intermediate).

“If we practice the science of Yoga, which is useful to the entire human community and which yields happiness both here and hereafter—if we practice it without fail, we will then attain physical, mental, and spiritual happiness, and our minds will flood towards the Self.”
— Sri K. Pattabhi Jois
